Stories that explore love, memory, relationships, history and the complicated landscape of being human.

SUTRADHAAR

Sutradhaar follows Kumar, a young man from a humble village in Uttar Pradesh, whose simple life is rooted in family, tradition, and the quiet rhythms of rural existence. Restless for more, he leaves behind the comforting familiarity of his village to chase education and opportunity in Delhi. The move is bittersweet—he carries his family’s hopes but is quickly confronted by the harsh realities of urban life: cramped rooms, financial struggles, and loneliness.

Amid this chaos, he meets Chitra, a determined UPSC aspirant. Their first meeting in a small eatery sparks a connection built on mutual respect, shared dreams, and an unspoken emotional intimacy. Kumar admires her ambition and begins supporting her selflessly—carrying her books, bringing her chai, organizing her notes, and caring for her health, often sacrificing his own needs. His love is quiet but unwavering, built not on grand gestures but on everyday acts of devotion.

However, the pressures of city life, academic challenges, and emotional strain begin to erode their closeness. Chitra grows distant—late nights, secretive phone calls, and subtle changes sow suspicion in Kumar’s heart. When he confronts her, she confesses to a brief affair born of vulnerability, stress, and loneliness. The revelation shatters Kumar, dismantling the love and trust they had built.

Heartbroken and disillusioned, Kumar returns to his village, not as the victorious son his family expected, but as a man humbled by loss. Back home, the familiarity of rural life, his parents’ silent support, and the rhythms of nature slowly begin to heal him. The village, once a cage in his eyes, becomes a sanctuary, allowing him to reflect on love, failure, and resilience.

The novel closes on a note of quiet acceptance: love can be deep yet still falter, dreams can shatter yet still leave lessons, and sometimes returning to one’s roots is the first step toward rebuilding.
